TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Customers will have to use the back entrance if they want to do business at the Embassy Plaza Shopping Center, due to a partial ceiling collapse on Monday.

The incident happened near the Department of Economic Security office, as clients were waiting for their appointments on Monday afternoon.

Three people were injured after chunks of the drywall came down, paramedics with Northwest Fire arrived on scene to assist. Two patients, a man and a woman were transported to a local hospital for treatment while a third person was treated at the scene and released. A fourth person told paramedics that they had not been hit by any of the falling drywall.

According to officials with the Town of Marana, the damage may have occurred due to the high winds and a difference in pressure in the attic space of the breezeway, causing the older drywall to fall.

Crews are working this morning to pick up what debris remains and to help make the area safe for customers again.

For those who have appointments at the DES office, staff are asking that clients follow the signs that will guide around them around the clean up, to the rear entrance, until the repairs are made.
