Viral Video: Toddler amputee walks for the first time in prosthetics

Posted: Updated:

A viral video of 2-year-old walking for the first time with his new prosthetics is melting the hearts of many.

Kayden Kinckle was born with Omphalocele, a type of abdominal wall defect in which the intestines, liver and bladder remain on the outside of the body. According to a YouTube posting from Nicki Kinckle, Kayden’s mother, the doctor said that Kayden would not survive the pregnancy.

During the pregnancy, Kinckle was told that the umbilical cord was wrapped around Kayden’s feet and pinned under her pelvic bone. Doctor’s warned Kinckle that her son wouldn’t walk and would have problems growing up.

Kayden had to have both his feet amputated.

But Kayden didn’t let that stop him. The 2-year-old proved doctors wrong when he walked for the first time in his new prosthetic legs.

Kayden’s mother posted a video of him walking to YouTube on July 4. In the video, Kayden enthusiastically says, “I got it.”

A benefit is being held for Kayden on Aug. 23. For more information about Kayden and his progress, check out his Facebook page, Kayden Steppinoutonfaith Kinckle.
