Red River Parish crash claims 2 lives

RED RIVER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Two Mansfield residents have died in a crash in Red River Parish.

According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash just before 10 p.m. Friday on Louisiana Highway 509 one mile west of Louisiana Highway 1.

They say the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling south on LA 509 when the driver, Frederick D. McDaniel of Mansfield, crossed the center line then steered hard to the right before losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree.

McDaniel and a passenger, 21-year-old Cleshea F. Sudds of Mansfield, were ejected from the vehicle. State police say neither was wearing a seatbelt and both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained from the driver. The crash remains under investigation.
