NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two Metro Police officers were assaulted on the job on Thursday within a matter of hours in unrelated incidents.

In the first case, an officer stopped Marko Owens for driving on a suspended license.

When the officer went up to the driver's side window to talk to Owens, police said he started spitting in the officer's face.

In the second incident, police said an officer saw Quantiko Esaw pushing around his mother during an argument at the Exxon station on Rosa Parks Boulevard.

The officer separated the two, but police said Esaw fought the officer, pushing him and pulling away.

Esaw escaped the officer and pushed his mother into the Exxon station. The officer was eventually able to catch and arrest him.

Owens and Esaw were both charged with assault.
