Public hearing for financing Hattiesburg development set for Monday

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A public hearing will be held next Monday for a financing project on a lot for a new apartment complex in Hattiesburg.

York Development hopes to finance part of its project on Cross Creek Parkway with through tax increment financing (TIF).

According to council president Kim Bradley, the monies from the taxes will be used for infrastructure improvements for drainage.

Much of the developments in that area were supported by TIF, including the road that connects Hwy. 98 to W. 4th St.

"York Development has done very well in west Hattiesburg in developing all that project out west of Turtle Creek Mall," said Bradley. "There's three or four different projects that went in out there, and he's responsible for that."

The public hearing will be 4;00 p.m. Monday at Hattiesburg City Hall.
