This is a news release from the Hattiesburg Police Department

Officers were dispatched to a local gas station Monday morning in reference to an armed robbery call.

When officers arrived, a clerk advised the police that a male with a bandana around his face held the clerk at gunpoint.

The clerk said the suspect left in a silver car heading eastbound on Hardy street.

Officers later found a vehicle fitting the clerk's description at a Kangaroo gas station.

The suspect fled the scene. After the police chased the subject,  he bailed out of the vehicle on foot where he was later apprehended.

The driver gave police false identification, and after being booked into the Forrest County Jail, police learned the suspect's real name.

Germarker Debryo Smith was charged with armed robbery, and was wanted on felony warrants in Clinton, Mississippi.
