WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Judge Lester Williamson has sentenced Forrest Johnston, 21, to 15 years, 7 suspended and 5 years probation.

Johnston's sentence hearing was held Monday inside the Wayne County Court House.

During the hearing, several of the victim's and the defendant's family and friends took the stand either to ask the judge for the maximum sentence or to tell the judge how Johnston was always know to be a respectful and kind person.

After nearly two hours, Judge Williamson made his decision. Williamson said he didn't think it was a maximum sentence case.

In May, Johnston was found guilty of manslaughter for shooting and killing Belinda Walters, 41, back in December 2012.

The incident all began when Walters found out Forrest Johnston was texting and sending inappropriate text messages to her 13-year-old daughter.
