Family disturbance leads Jones County Sheriff's Department to injured officer

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from Jones County Sheriff's Department

Jones County Sheriff's Department Deputies responded to a Family Disturbance call on June 27, 2013 on Red Hill Crossing.  Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a family member who stated Adam Mills had been dropped off at her residence naked and high on drugs.  Mills allegedly threatened the family verbally and with kitchen knives.

As the deputies attempted to make contact with Mills, he became irate and refused to get dressed citing "there were snakes in his clothes".  Mills was finally convinced to put on some pajamas and come out of the bedroom.  As other deputies arrived on scene to assist, Mills became violent and combative causing the deputies to use defensive tactics skills to protect themselves and Mills.  During the altercation a deputy's leg was severely injured.  After getting Mills to calm down with restraints on him, deputies again attempted to escort him to a waiting patrol car when he then became violent causing him and a deputy to fall to the ground.

Mills was then put in the patrol car, transported to JCADC where he was booked in for Family Disturbance, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Felony Assault on an Officer.

Jones County Deputy Jody White received injures to his leg and will undergo surgery, Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
