Hundreds auditioned for new movie to be filmed in Jackson

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hundreds of budding stars turned out for round one of casting for a new film being shot in Mississippi.

A casting call was held in Jackson this weekend for a new film called "The Hollars".

The film will be directed by and starring John Krasinski of "The Office". Anna Kendrick is also a lead in the film.

Mississippi native and local casting director Mathew Morgan says the movie is a comedy about   John Hollar, a man who comes back to his small hometown to be with his mom for a serious surgery.

Cindy Jefcoat auditioned for a part in the film and said it was a great experience.

"My audition, personally, I was a little nervous. I've never auditioned for anything ever but it was a great experience and you get butterflies. It was a lot of fun."

"The Hollars" will be filmed in Jackson from mid-July to mid August.
