JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Southern District Transportation Commissioner, Tom King, was at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel to present a check in the amount of $322,262.00 to Jones County Supervisors. The money will provide funds for a drainage, a decorative fence and other items along the area once occupied by I-59 near the hospital. These funds are part of the Federal Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) which can only be used for the work.
"The board of supervisors are receiving this grant and what they do with it will be the beautification around the hospital on state owned and county owned land." said King.
