Three WCU education programs ranked among top 1/3 in U.S.

Three education programs at William Carey University have received high rankings from the National Council on Teacher Quality. Three education programs at William Carey University have received high rankings from the National Council on Teacher Quality.
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Three programs in the School of Education at William Carey University have been ranked among the top one-third in the nation by the National Council on Teacher Quality.

The 2nd annual Review of Teacher Preparation Programs ranked WCU's Special Education Preparation Program as the 10th best in the country.

Carey's Elementary Education Preparation Program ranked 71st and the school's Secondary Education Preparation Program ranked 399th. A total of 1,612 programs were reviewed.

"We're very pleased with those programs," said Dr. Gary Breland, vice-president of academic affairs at William Carey University. "Our education programs have been excelling for a long time and we're happy with this recognition," he said. 

20 graduate and undergraduate programs in Mississippi were reviewed.
