Republican Primary Election Runoff going smoothly

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

As of 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Secretary of State's Office reports the election is proceeding smoothly.

No wait times have been reported.

The Agency has received 136 phone calls concerning Tuesday's election.

Most of the calls received by the Agency have been concerning crossover voting.

Individuals recorded as voting in the June 3rd Democratic Primary Election are not eligible to "crossover" and vote in the Republican Primary Election Runoff.

We have had two (2) calls inquiring if a photo ID could be issued Tuesday. Circuit clerks were issuing photo IDs Tuesday.

We have also had calls concerning polling locations. Those with questions have been directed to their correct polling location.

"A quiet election where each voter is allowed to quickly cast his or her ballot without disruption is another positive step forward in Mississippi's electoral process," said Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann. "We are hopeful this is a continuing trend for the remainder of the day."

Polls are open until 7:00 p.m. today.

Voters are encouraged to call their Circuit Clerk or the Secretary of State's Office at 1-800-829-6786 if you have any questions.
