ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

Elizabethton Police are trying to find the man and woman who stole a woman's purse at a recent festival and used the victim's credit card at several local businesses.

The crime happened between 9-10 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th, the final night of The Covered Bridge Festival.   The couple took a purse from a car parked in the area of South Sycamore Street.   "Shortly after that, the credit card belonging to the victim began being used at multiple business locations here in Elizabethton," said Joy Markland, Elizabethton Police.

Surveillance cameras caught several good images of the man and woman as they tried to use the stolen car.
"We're hoping with this being such a recent incident that someone will recognize these individuals, someone will have knowledge of them," Markland said.

She also hopes everyone will be vigilant in keeping their purse and other valuables out of plain sight when leaving a parked car.

"A lot of times we find that individuals simply walk around and look for somewhere that would seem to be a profitable target to break in to," said Markland.
