Sertoma Club of Laurel presents "Service to Mankind" award

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

The Sertoma Club of Laurel presented its "Service to Mankind" award Thursday at The Laurel Country Club.

South Central Regional Medical Center's Vice President of Human Resource Janet Staples was recognized by the club and handed a plaque by Sertoma Club of Laurel President Randy Holland.

The award is presented each year to a non-Sertoman for exceptional community service, where work is performed on a volunteer basis.

Having a grandson diagnosed with a rare disease, Staples founded Extra Ordinary Kids, which is a support group at SCRMC for families and children with special needs. She also founded Benjamin's Booth, which is a booth that sells specialty items and is located at The Lucky Rabbit in Hattiesburg.
