POPLARVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Construction is almost finished on a new basketball coliseum for Pearl River Community College.
The cost of the new Marvin R. White Coliseum is nearly $10 million and it replaces the old White Coliseum, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The facility will seat 2,700 people and is about 10,000 square feet larger than the old coliseum.
"It's got a state-of-the-art sound system," said Dr. William Lewis, president of Pearl River Community College. "The acoustical engineering that went into it is really special. There's a lot of technology in the building and it's going to be a real special facility," he said.
School officials say construction work should be complete in about 30 days.
