PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WPEC/CNN) – A former adult film entertainer is running for a seat on a county school board in Florida.

"Lawsuits like mine happen because of poor decision making and that's why I'm running for the board," David Mech said.

Mech is running for a seat on the Palm Beach County, FL school board. He's a Boca Raton, FL tutor and former adult film actor and adult film business owner that spent hundreds of dollars advertising his math tutoring business at several Palm Beach County schools.

Those schools removed his signs, saying adult entertainment is not a compatible partner with education.

"I don't know why any rational school board would want to prevent a well-educated, non-violent, strong math tutor from access to their population," Mech said.

Mech filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against the school board – the same school board he now wants a seat on.

"The current school board, I believe, is deficient in areas related to technology, innovation, equality sex education and secular values," Mech said.

Mech says what happened to him, and his suit against the school board, are factors in his decision to run.

"I'm trying to make date driven decisions that are beneficial to furthering education of Palm Beach County schools,"Mech said.

Mech says his case is scheduled to go to trial in federal court in November, the same month as the school board election.
