Burglary suspects caught in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Police have taken twoburglary suspects off the streets in the past 24 hours.

Clarence Thompson was arrested and charged with two commercialburglaries in the 100 block of Oak Street. The other suspect, Demetrius Warewas arrested and charged with a residential burglary in the 600 block of KatieAvenue. Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler stated that most suspects look for acrime of opportunity, and that members of the community should not make iteasy. Locking doors, closing windows and not leaving valuables out in the openis a great start.

"We have that going on right now,it's summer time, people are out of town, they are leaving, going on vacationand things like that because kids are out of school, got more foot traffic andbetter days and everything, so we just ask everybody to be cautious of that,watch for things going on in their neighborhood and just like this here, if yousee something, call us," said Traxler.

The department's investigation process is still underway and itcould be possible one or both of the suspects could be linked to more incidentsin the city.
