LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Construction on a section ofPurvis-Baxterville road in Purvis is expected to begin on Monday.
Recent inclement weather has stalled the project which will closetwo-tenths of a mile of Purvis-Baxterville road between Shelby Speights driveand Talowah Road. The project which costs around 330 thousand dollars is toeliminate a horizontal curve.
According to Jason Lamb, project manager with Walker Associates,the project should pick back up early next week, and residents should be awareof the detour.
Once the road is closed, Coaltown and Purvis-Columbia roads willbe the designated detour routes around the construction project.
