JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two men are in custody tonight after leading state troopers on a multi-county chase.

It began when MHP set up a road block at 3:30 on Friday afternoon on Highway 541 in Simpson County.

Trooper Eric Henry of the MHP says two men in a Mercedes stopped at the road block when troopers smelled marijuana in the car. The suspects were told to pull over when they sped off, leading troopers on a pursuit.

The chase ended at North Carson Road near Prentiss in Jefferson Davis County when the suspects wrecked the Mercedes.

According to Henry, the suspects tried to run but troopers, led by Captain Steven Shows, were able to apprehend them and take them into custody.

Troopers found about 200 pounds of marijuana in duffle bags in the trunk.

The suspects claimed that they drove from Austin, TX. Henry said they're having trouble identifying the men, because they had no ID.

They're charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony fleeing and DUI.
