(WMC) - The campaign behind Congressman Steve Cohen, ninth district, filed a formal complaint to the Federal Election Commission against U.S. Congressional candidate Ricky Wilkins.

In a news release on Thursday, Cohen for Congress accuses Wilkins' campaign committee failed to properly disclose his campaign disclaimer on his billboards, newspaper advertisements, literature, and yard signs.

Communication paid for and authorized by a candidate must clearly state that the communication has been paid for by the authorized political committee, according to regulations. Also, the disclaimer has to meet a certain type size to be clearly readable.

WMC Action News 5 waiting for a response from Wilkins. The democratic primary election is August 7.
