Winning Powerball ticket worth $259.8 million sold in Knoxville

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A lucky Tennessee Lottery player won the $259.8 million Powerball jackpot in Wednesday's drawing.

The winner bought their ticket in Knoxville and will have to make their way to Nashville to claim their prize.

If the person who won takes the lump-sum payment in cash, they'll walk away with $153.5 million.

The lottery winner has 180 days to claim the prize.

This has been a lucky year for Tennesseans in terms of lottery winnings. A Bellevue mother and son won the $61 million Mega Millions jackpot Jan. 3.
