Salem teacher denied motion for reduced sentence

WALTHALL COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Walthall County teacher found guilty of four counts of sexual batteryinvolving students was denied her motion for a lesser sentence on Tuesday.

Walthall County junior high teacher Nolana Griffin, 40, was sentenced to25 years with 15 to serve and 10 years post supervision.

A recent motion filedto reduce the sentence was denied and Judge Michael Taylor decided to keep hisoriginal sentence. Taylor sided with the parents in the case, referencing the dutiesof a school teacher in a student's life.

Griffin, who is no longer employed,taught English, reading, science and health at Salem Attendance Center.
