ARLINGTON, TN -
(WMC) - A major business expansion, more jobs, and a significant capital investment are coming to Arlington, Tennessee.

Senator Mark Norris says the expansion at MicroPort Orthopedics, which is former Wright Medical, will bring about 170 jobs and the construction of a new training facility on campus along Airline Road.

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty is in Arlington on Tuesday and made the official announcement.

"We've grown from 10 billion in exports to over 30 billion over the past 10 years, and our number one export is medical devices," said Hagerty.

State leaders say bringing jobs like this to West Tennessee is important. They say it will help close the skill gap across the state.

"Higher paying jobs, workforce development, this is a very special sector, and it's very special to Tennessee," said Tennessee Senator Mark Norris.

MicroPort officials say they're already hiring for people for positions in research and development, marketing, and manufacturing.

"The jobs we've added, and the jobs we'll be looking for are going to be in the core areas that drive the technological advancement of the business," said MicroPort Orthopedics CEO, Ted Davis.

More jobs are sure to open up soon. If you are interested in applying, send your resume to hr@microport.com
