Part of Midstate under severe thunderstorm watch

Severe weather has started moving through Middle Tennessee, and the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of the Midstate until 6 p.m.

The following counties are included in the watch area:

CLAY                  CUMBERLAND            DEKALB
FENTRESS              GRUNDY                JACKSON
OVERTON               PICKETT               PUTNAM
VAN BUREN             WARREN                WHITE

There will be scattered showers early Tuesday morning, but the most severe storms are expected to move in between late morning and early evening on Tuesday.

The biggest threats associated with these storms are flash flooding and damaging straight-line winds.

A portion of the western part of Middle Tennessee is under a Flash Flood Watch until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
