Sandersville elects new Alderman

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) - The town of Sandersville has a new Alderman.

According to Town Clerk Paula Byrd, Darlene Hill was declared the winner of Tuesday's race for Board of Alderman with 83 votes.

Cornelia Parker came in second with a total of 45 votes and John Blackledge captured 18 votes.

The race was to fill the seat left by former Alderman Bob White.

White was elected mayor of Sandersville in a special election held in April following the passing of then Mayor Jimmy Hill.

Darlene Hill is the widow of Jimmy Hill.
