HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Construction of Century Park South at the University of Southern Mississippi is nearing completion.
Two of the three dormitories are expected to be ready by July, 1 with the third, located on the 4th Street side scheduled to be open by the first of the year. The three five story buildings will house 954 and the Moffett Health Center for students. The majority of the rooms will be doubles with private baths. The Lucky Day Citizenship Hall and Vann Hall are the ones opening in July. Scott Hall and the Health Center will be ready in January.
"Once these buildings are complete we'll have all 1800-freshman on this side of campus and all our freshman housed here will have similar amenities," said Dr. Chris Crenshaw, VP, Facilities Mgt. and Planning. "This way we will not have the have's and the have not's. That's exciting for us to be able to offer that to our students."
All the Lucky Day Scholars will now be able to be housed in one location.
