MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - Memphis Police Department investigators renewed their request for information in a cold case hit-and-run that killed two people.

Jessika Cavazos, 34, and Derrick Cross, 37, were standing alongside a broken down car on Interstate 40 near Warford Street just before 3 a.m. on August 18, 2013.

Police say they were killed instantly when they were hit by what is believed to be "a white, 4-door, Toyota pick-up truck with black or gray around the lower sides and rear." The truck was last seen near Covington Pike and I-40.

The driver did not stop and has not been captured.

"Until the person is brought to justice, the person comes forward, I am never going to get my life back," sobbed Jessika's mother, Pattie Levya-Martinez. "I have a fiancé, and he tells me every day he misses the old Pattie. I try to be happy; I can't. Sometimes I feel guilty when I laugh. Guilt out of I'm happy and my daughter's not even here."

Cavazos' mother has since moved to California.

"I've been seeing a counselor since day one. Tells me that mother losing a daughter is the biggest grief, the biggest pain there is and he is absolutely correct," she said.

Investigators ask anyone who has information that might help them solve this case to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
