Lamar County supervisors discuss emergency software upgrade

The Lamar County Board of Supervisors have approved a $422,000 AT&T contract for newer communication tools and furniture at the new 911 dispatch center, which is currently under construction. County administrator Chuck Bennett says the new state-of-the-art system will be monumental for the county.

"It'll be our expense, it'll benefit the citizens with the most advanced E/911 software and equipment available today," Bennett said.

Bennett added that new radios will be included in the E/911 upgrade, and that everything will be complete in about a year.
