Suspect in custody for Hattiesburg armed robbery

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Hattiesburg Police Department

Officers were dispatched to a Hattiesburg residence in reference to an armed robbery that had occurred at Red Lobster.

Upon arrival, HPD met with the victims who advised they were walking home from a convenience store when three black male suspects jumped out from behind a van parked in the parking lot.

One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money from the victims.  The victims gave their money to the suspects who fled on foot toward Oak Grove Rd behind a building.

The victims said  they then walked and called the police and recognized one of the suspects who lived in the area.

Officers were able to locate the residence where Jasheun White lived, and he was taken into custody along with other people who were later released.

White was charged with armed robbery and some of the stolen money was recovered.
