(WMC) – A storm chaser says he was struck by lightning while shooting video out of his car window in South Dakota.

Scott Sheppard was chasing storms in western South Dakota near Fairburn on Tuesday, May 27.

He says the bolt of lightning struck his arm and continued down to the ground, blowing a hole in the road.

Sheppard's video was posted to YouTube and shared to Facebook by SevereStudios Storm Chasers.

According to the post, "The lightning also disabled his vehicle and a passing car, both of which had to be towed. Scott has a sore arm but is otherwise OK."
