HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Hattiesburg Zoo is marking its 64th birthday by celebrating the spirt of early 20th century exploration and innovation. The public will get its first glimpse Saturday of the new Asbury Discovery Center.

It's a new education facility funded by a $277,000 grant from the Asbury Foundation.

Friday night, a ribbon was cut for a private unveiling of the center, which features viewable housing for animals, as well as viewable offices and laboratories for zookeepers.

A public unveiling is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, during the zoo's annual Birthday Bash. That event is scheduled for 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
