JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - A Jonesborough teen is facing a second degree murder charge, as well as a tampering with evidence charge, following an altercation and shooting Thursday evening at a Johnson City motel.

Around 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the Johnson Inn on W. Market Street in Johnson City for reports of shots fired in the parking lot.

Officers found a white Ford Windstar van in the parking lot with a man slumped over the center console. Officers said they noticed the man was bleeding profusely from one gun shot wound to the head. The man later died as a result of that injury.

According to a court affidavit, police spoke with Kasey Bishop, who said she and her brother, Coty Tristan Bishop, 18, 291 Matson Road in Jonesborough, had gone to the Johnson Inn to meet up with an acquaintance.

While there, a fight reportedly occurred between Kasey Bishop, Coty Bishop and Casey Jones, 22, of Johnson City, in Kasey Bishop's vehicle.

Bishop fled from the Johnson Inn after the shooting took place, but was later located and arrested by police and taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

According to the affidavit, Coty Bishop admitted in an interview that he got a revolver from beneath his leg, shot Jones in the head and then fled from the scene.

Bishop also reportedly told authorities that he threw the revolver in a nearby wooded area.

Casey Jones would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on May 20th.

Bishop is charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

Bishop was arraigned Friday in Sessions Court and was scheduled for another court appearance on for May 22 at 1:30 p.m.
