The Laurel Police Department took the time out to honor fallen heroes during their memorial service Thursday.
Dozens of residents, city and county officials gathered outside of the police station for the annual day of remembrance for fallen police officers. During the service, the names of Mississippi officers who fell in the line of duty in the past year were honored in a roll call, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Jones county deputy Glenn Randall Chancellor was also honored, he was killed February 2001 by a drunk driver in a head-on collision.
