HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held Saturday for a new all-sports facility for Hattiesburg's Sacred Heart High School.
The Sacred Heart Sports Park on St. Claire Parkway will encompass 20 acres and will feature football, soccer, baseball and softball fields, along with a field house and concession area.
Members of the San Antonio Foundation, Inc., which raised money for the park, hope to have the football field ready for play this fall.
"We'll have a secondary field for practice and hopefully, one day, we can surround it with a track," said Tracy Klein, president of the San Antonio Foundation, Inc. "Our ultimate goal for that track will be one day to host the Special Olympics, so we've got big plans and we're trying to move forward as quickly as possible," he said.
Saturday's groundbreaking is set for 6:30 p.m., and will include live entertainment and a bonfire.
