Seminary remembers officers who died in the line of duty

SEMINARY, MS (WDAM) - Folks in the Town of Seminary came together to remember police officers who were killed in the line of duty.

During the service Mississippi Highway Patrolman Billy Langham was remembered.Lanfham was killed by a motorist he had pulled over for speeding in 1981. Also remembered was Covington County Sheriff James Robertson who was shot to death in 1906 while trying to arrest two fugitives.

Captain Rusty Keys from the Southern Miss campus police gave the keynote speech.

"I just want the f0olks to be able to reflect on the sacrifice these officers have made," said Keys. They've laid down their lives in the line of duty and also reflect on the sacrifice their families made and going to work everyday, being in danger and facing evil."

Prior to the memorial a honor patrol was held to former Seminary Police Officer and Fire Chief Harry Sampley for former Police Chief Bobby Beasley.
