BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

As we look ahead to the start of a new work-week the main headline will continue to be steamy weather with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. This won't be the story all week however as a cold front will bring big changes on Wednesday. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be much like today with most of the rain popping-up after 1 p.m. and dissipating at night. A few thunderstorms could also develop during the peak heating of the day. These storms should remain non-severe but they will produce dangerous lightning so keep an eye to the sky.

The setup will change on Wednesday as a cold front makes its push through our area. We're expecting showers to become more widespread during the day and possibly linger into Wednesday night. Once the rain ends a much drier flow will take over for Thursday with a big drop in temperatures! Highs on Thursday will struggle to reach the low 70s with lows at night in the 40s! Be sure to join us tonight beginning at 9 p.m. for more specifics on the wet weather and the forecasted May cool snap.
