Couple escapes serious injury in I-59 rollover accident

A couple from Rankin County escaped serious injury when their pickup left the road and flipped several times before landing on its roof in the median of Interstate 59 near the 82 mile marker, Tuesday afternoon, May 6.

Just before 6 p.m. emergency medical responders and rescue units from Moselle Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident.  The couple was able to crawl out of the vehicle on their own before volunteers arrived.

The female occupant was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ ambulance service with what was believed to be minor and non-life threatening injuries.  The male occupant was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the accident was Jones County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna.
