City of Cleveland documents shed light on Ariel Castro's house of horrors

More than a thousand pages of documents have now been released in the Ariel Castro case.

Reporter Scott Taylor has obtained documents from the county, but more importantly, the City of Cleveland.

The records reveal much more of what went on inside Castro's Seymour Avenue home.

Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus suffered horrible abuse at the hands of the convicted kidnapper and rapist. Now, we are discovering much more than we knew before.

Michelle Knight tried to escape the first day she was kidnapped, but Castro discovered her attempt and threatened to kill her if she tried again.  She also said he stole $5,000 from her, the money she was going to use to fund her custody battle for her son, Joey.

Documents show when Castro's family was over, he threatened to shoot everyone in the house if the girls screamed. One time, his 3-year-old grandson wandered upstairs by himself and saw the girls.

Castro took Amanda's daughter on little trips to the mall and McDonald's. When they were out in public, Castro told the little girl to never tell anyone her mother's name.

When asked how much Jocelyn knew about what was happening, she told police her father took all the women, and her mother told her that she has been missing her family for 10 years.
