COLLINS, MS (WDAM) -

Governor Phil Bryant is assessing the clean-up and rebuilding efforts following last week's tornadoes. And he says the state is making progress in recovering from those storms.

"The local emergency responders are doing a remarkable job," Bryant said. "Volunteers are pouring in from all around the country. And so, we're very pleased at where we're at. We're saddened that we found the last victim day before yesterday, a young child in Louisville. That brings us to about 13 that have lost their lives, some still in the hospital. But, we're getting better, we've come through this before," he said.

Gov. Bryant was in Collins Saturday for the annual Okatoma Festival.
