JCJC and WDAM host Top of Class

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - JCJC and WDAM collaborated to recognize the brightest minds in the Pine Belt.

Dozens of high school valedictorians and salutatorians were recognized at the annual Top of Class event.

"It's absolutely incredible," said Faith Banis from Simpson Academy. "I know everyone else and myself, we have all worked so hard, so it's great to be honored for that."

Faith said she is most excited about getting out of town.

"It's gonna be different, but I'm ready. I'm ready to make the change and see what life has," said Faith.

JCJC President Dr. Jesse Smith said the Top of Class ceremony is one of the most important events of the year.

"It's been a big deal for us, because we get to highlight the top students in our area, certainly in the Channel 7 viewing area, we get a chance to visit with them and we get to also get a chance to promote them and congratulate them on all their hard work," said Smith.

Students who attended Top of Class plan on attending college all across the country.
