Dixie Electric Morning Outage Update

Linecrews are continuing to rebuild power lines in Jones and Wayne counties after Monday evening's storms.

As of 11 a.m. Thursday, Dixie Electric had 416 members without power. That number includes 67 in Jones County and 349 in Wayne County. Restoration at this point is a slow process due to the number of broken poles, downed lines and the amount of debris to clear away for the linemen to safely work.

Restoration will continue through today and could continue into Friday.

Members can reach Dixie Electric at (601) 425-2535 in Laurel, (601) 735-2072 in Waynesboro and (601) 583-1131 in Petal. After hours, members can reach the answering service at 888-465-9209. It is important to report an outage using the automated phone system because it is the quickest and easiest way to get the information to the dispatcher. Dixie Electric will also provide updates online at dixieepa.com, on Facebook or on Twitter at @DixieEPA.

Dixie Electric Power Association serves 38,000 accounts in a seven county area in south Mississippi, including Jones, Wayne, Perry, Forrest, Covington, Clarke and Jasper counties.
