LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department says that 11-year-old Tyreon Brim, who they  believe was kidnapped Wednesday, has been found in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

The FBI and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have been working with the sheriff's department during this investigation. Investigators now believe the boy's grandmother was working with the two men in the kidnapping.

The sheriff's department first got the call about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday that the child was taken from the 8300 block of Poplar Springs Drive.

Officials say a black male knocked on the door asking about a man who often stays at that residence. But the man says when he opened the door to give his visitor a phone number, he and another black male who was hiding nearby rushed into the house, knocked him down and struck him with a weapon.

He says the men then held him at gunpoint while they robbed him, and took the child from another room.

The sheriff's department says there are strict guidelines to issuing an Amber Alert, and by the time investigators were able to compile what they needed to do so, they had reason to believe the boy was already out of the state of Mississippi.
