JCJC set to host Holmes in MACJC playoffs

The top-ranked Jones County Bobcats are the MACJC South division champions and with that honor, they're hosting the opening round of the playoffs against Holmes at Community Bank Park.

The Bobcats are hitting at a .321 clip and notched a 38-8 record in the regular season.

The visiting Bulldogs are hitting .307 and tallied a 31-15 record on the year.

JCJC head coach Christian Ostrander gave us his thoughts about earning the one-seed in the playoffs.

"Junior college baseball in this state top-to-bottom is really competitive. We've been able to win [the South division] four our of the last five years and every year it comes down to the end," said Ostrander at the team's practice.

"It's very encouraging to see our guys keep grinding out and keep staying the course and trying to go out there and win that thing and I'm proud they are able to achieve that."

First pitch for game one is set for Friday at 6 p.m.

Saturday's game is set for 2 p.m. and if necessary, game three will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
