Hattiesburg man behind bars facing felony charges in Columbia for "terrorizing the community" with his truck.

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Joshua Simmons, 27, is charged with felony dui, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, driving under a suspended license, no insurance, and reckless driving - all while under house arrest in Forrest County.

Around noon on Saturday, Columbia police responded to a hit an run call at Highway 98 and Columbia Purvis Road.

On the way to the scene police spotted the vehicle driving the wrong way, westbound in the eastbound lane of Hwy 98.

The vehicle led authorities on a pursuit before crashing into the Pearl River Bridge where it flipped over the railing and coming to rest on the east bank of the river.

Simmons was transported to Forrest General Hospital and is now wanted by the department of transportation for the damage to the bridge.
