Vacant home destroyed in early morning fire

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A fire early Thursday morning destroyed a vacant home in the Shadow Ridge SUbdivision is under investigation.

Hattiesburg firefighters responded to the call of a structure fire at 111 Shadow Lake Drive around 5:30 a.m.

According to fire officials, when they arrived on scene all that was left were several sections of brick walls.

Fire officials with the Hattiesburg Fire Department requested the help of the State Fire Marshals Office to process the scene.

Officials said neighbors stated the home had no power, and according to neighbors the house had been vacant for roughly three years.

    The new Miss Hospitality has been crowned in Hattiesburg.  She is Emma Grace McGrew, 18, of Booneville.
