LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Laurel Police Department will hold a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday to help city residents rid their medicine chests of expired, unused or unwanted medications.
The April 26 event will be held inside the Law Enforcement Complex from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The free and anonymous take-back service is a joint initiative by city police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
Captain Tommy Cox invites residents to stop by and dispose of their unused prescription drugs properly.
Flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash poses potential safety and health hazards, which is why Laurel Police hope people will dispose of them properly through their official take-back event.
