Man charged with identity theft after friend blows cover

On Tuesday, April 22nd, officers with the Johnson City Police Department arrested 32 year-old Sherman Love and charged him with Identity Theft, Driving on Revoked License, Improper Registration, and Financial Responsibility.

Around 3:00pm, officers initiated a traffic stop on a gold Chrysler minivan near E. Myrtle Ave. and N. Broadway St. During the traffic stop, Mr. Love identified himself as a different person. Officers were able to positively identify Sherman Love when one of his friends walked near the area of the traffic stop and yelled his name.

Mr. Love was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $11,000 bond. An arraignment is set for Wednesday, April 23rd, at 1:45 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.
