Sandersville names new mayor in special election

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Sandersville elected a new mayor Tuesday during a special election after the sudden death of their former mayor.

Alderman Bob White won the position with 108 votes to his challenger Darlene Hill who received 80.

The election was made necessary when Mayor Jimmy Hill died in February while still in office.

Voters will now go to the polls in another special election to replace White's position as Alderman at large.

A date has not yet been set for the second special election.
