MBI investigates domestic shootout in Nettleton

At the request of officials of the Nettleton Police Department, agents of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are looking into a midday shooting incident that left three north Mississippi men dead. At approximately 11:45 a.m. Wednesday morning three men were shot.

Two of the individuals died at the scene and a third died from his wounds at a Tupelo hospital. The incident occurred on Main Street in Nettleton near the intersection of Mullins Street. The suspect/shooter fired at Nettleton police officers and was shot and killed.

The shooter/suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Otis Eugene Bass of Shannon, Mississippi. The victim who died at the scene has been identified as 44-year-old Joseph Valie Bass (brother of the shooter/suspect) also of Shannon.

The victim who died in the hospital in Tupelo has been identified as 33-year-old Jamie C. Guin of Mantachie. MBI agents and members of the Crime Scene Unit are continuing to investigate.
