LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

Town of Lexington officials said independent contractors testing soil struck a sewer line and caused a break Wednesday.

The break is located near Highway 378 West at the Horse Creek Bridge said Jennifer Dowden with the Town of Lexington.

"An undetermined amount of sewer entered into Lake Murray," Dowden said.

The Town of Lexington repaired the break and samples will be taken in the affected area, Dowden said.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control had been notified.
